The Disability Research Digest (DRD) is a special project of the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities Alliance (SMD). SMD Alliance is based in Manitoba, Canada and provides strategic vision and policy direction to five SMD corporations: SMD Clearinghouse; SMD Foundation; SMD Ventures; SMD AbiTech; and SMD Services. The vision shared among the corporations is of a "community that supports the independence, participation, and empowerment of persons of all abilities." Each SMD corporation pursues a different but complementary mandate in working toward this vision.
